GGS started initiatives in Alexandra Township, Johannesburg, Gauteng Province, South Africa during 2020. Your support will help expand these programs and projects and introduce new projects.
READING TO YOUNG CHILDREN PROGRAM
This intergenerational program encourages young children to read and share stories with Gogos. The GGS Gogo Says book promotes good morals with support from Gogos.
GGS KNITTING PROGRAM
GGS supports a community project by assisting Gogos to knit beanies for young children. On Mandela Day, Gogos distribute the knitted beanies to children in Early Childhood Centres (Creches).
VEGETABLE GARDEN PROGRAM
This program involves participants of all ages developing vegetable gardens in schools and Early Childhood Centres.
GGS HYGIENE PROGRAM
Gogos assist with Oral Hygiene Awareness in schools, elderly and disability centres, and ECDs (Creches).
GGS MONTHLY WORSHOPS
GGS run monthly workshops focusing on health, nutrition and mental wellness.
GGS EVENTS
GGS organizes annual events that focus on economic empowerment, financial literacy, gender-based violence, and domestic violence.
GGS GRANDPARENTING WORKSHOPS
Grandparents play a crucial role in the development and well-being of children especially in disadvantaged communities. It is essential to promote knowledge and awareness of effective parenting skills.
ACTIVE GOGOS
GGS help Gogos set up mobile soup kitchens to provide meals for the destitute, orphans, and needy individuals. They also visit disability and elderly centres, offering support and kindness.
